Join us for 16 Days of Activism
It's on again, when Zonta clubs all over the world advocate to end violence against women, men, children and pets as a result of domestic violence, coercive control and child or forced marriage. The 16 Days of Activism is an advocacy event that we participate in to raise awareness and share information to help bring about change in our local community.
Some of the activities we participate in during the 16 Days of Activism include:
Walk to "Say NO to violence" in Brisbane on 22 November.
Run an information stall at Morayfield Shopping Centre on 2 and 3 December.
Place orange figures and information pamphlets at local businesses and organisations during 25 November to 10 December.
Light up the Story Bridge in Brisbane and at the Caboolture Town Square in orange lights.
Display our "Zonta Says NO" banner in Caboolture.

Social Events
Members of Zonta Club of Caboolture and our friends enjoy getting together for a great cause and being social at the same time. We connect to make a difference, to celebrate and to work on projects we care about. Three of our major social events that we run every year include: International Women's Day, Breast Cushions Day and Birthing Kits Assembly Day.
International Women's Day - A Celebration of Women
In March every year, Zonta Club of Caboolture hosts a social event to celebrate women in our community. International Women's Day falls on 8 March. This year to celebrate women in our community, Zonta Caboolture held a lunch function with 200 guests including representatives from local schools, charity organisations and Zonta Club of Caboolture. A party like atmosphere is created by members to make the lunch a special social event. Tables are decorated, attendee receive a gift pack as they enter the room, and there are lots and lots of beautiful and abundant raffle prizes to win. Guest speakers share their story, musicians play relaxing and inspiring music, and attendees enjoy connection with friends and strangers. Donations are made by our club to local organisations to support the wonderful work they do in assisting women and children to recover from domestic violence and live better lives. |
Breast Cushions Day
This year Zonta Club of Caboolture members and friends of Zonta gathered to sew and stuff 150 breast cushions. These cushions are donated to local hospitals to give to women recovering from surgical procedures for the treatment of breast cancer. Contact us if you know someone who is having breast surgery and would like a breast cushion to support their recovery. |
Birthing Kit Assembly Day
It costs $5 to buy the birthing kit. Once a year Zonta Club of Caboolture members and friends of Zonta gather to assemble the kits for shipping overseas. This year we assembled 1600 birthing kits and welcomed the Bribie Pink Dragons who assisted on the day. Birthing Kit Assembly Day is always lots of fun for all who are involved. |
Fundraising Events
Monthly Bunnings BBQ at Morayfield Bunnings
Every month, around the third week of the month (Saturday or Sunday), you will find Zonta Club of Caboolture working the Morayfield Bunnings BBQ. This monthly fundraising event is essential for providing regular income to assist us to undertake service projects that make a difference to the lives of women and girls in our local community. Zonta members and friends of Zonta are always welcome to volunteer at one of our monthly Bunnings BBQ fundraising events. It is a fun day cooking up sausages and serving them to local Bunnings shoppers.

Gift Wrapping at Morayfield Shopping Centre
During December, Zonta Club of Caboolture provides gift wrapping at the Morayfield Shopping Centre to local patrons. For a gold coin donation we will wrap a Christmas present with a bow. We run the gift wrapping service every day leading up to Christmas in December. It is a great way for our club to fundraise and another opportunity for friends of Zonta to volunteer their time to join us in gift wrapping.

Fashion Parade Morning Tea
Another fundraising event by Zonta Club of Caboolture is our annual Fashion Parade morning tea held in September. This year it was a Rockin and Rollin Fashion Parade with fashions by online women's clothing store, Between Us Girls. The Fashion Parade raises funds through raffle ticket sales and entry fees. We would like to thank every one for coming along and participating eagerly in the games and raffles, as well as some rock and roll dancing. Many people came dressed in 1960’s gear and indulged in beautiful savoury and sweet food made by the members of Zonta Caboolture. It was a very successful fundraising event.

Advocacy Events
16 Days of Activism - 25 November to 10 December
During October-November, Zonta Club of Caboolture, participates in 16 days of Activism in the Caboolture region. This advocacy event aims to share information and raise awareness about the negative impact of domestic violence and coercive control on members of our community, especially women and children. This year we are also raising awareness concerning the impacts domestic violence has on pets too. Our orange figures will be placed in community locations throughout the 16 days of activism as a reminder of a women, children or pet who has suffered from domestic violence. We also provide safety cards containing emergency contact numbers and support services for quick reference. Look out for the orange lights in the Caboolture Town Square. |
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
May is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and this year Zonta Club of Caboolture raised awareness by partnering with two gyms. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month we shared information about the eight signs of domestic violence and the twelve signs of coercive control. This also included sharing information about emergency contact information for people experiencing domestic violence to seek support and assistance. Another way we raise awareness against domestic violence is with our Zonta Says No banner. During May it is raised in Centenary Lakes Park, Caboolture. |
